Refounding Fathers: Recovering Apostolic Foundations
At night, an orchestra of lights shimmer across the silhouetted hillside, as far as the eye can see, for hours on end. Then comes dawn. Wildflowers, purple and white and yellow, sway in the wind where the fireflies rallied the night before.
We are at the farmhouse of our friends Bill and Rita Gamela in upstate New York. One of this land's dearest friends, who after 100 years on the earth just recently passed on, shared with them about the heritage of their farm. Her great-great grandmother had passed on stories of how two great men of God would lodge at this farmhouse, and were often seen traversing the hillside in conversation and in prayer. The legacy of Charles Finney and Daniel Nash, forerunners of the Second Great Awakening, eventually provoked the Gamelas to buy the farm.
There is an earthy holiness about this hillside---as though, by night and by day, the ground itself displays the glory of their sacred mission--and somehow perpetuates it. The prophet Isaiah speaks about how, as the earth brings forth its sprouts, and as a garden causes the things sown in it to spring up, so the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to spring up before all the nations. Seeds of prayer become a harvest of salvation. And how her righteousness will break forth like brightness, and her salvation as a burning lamp (Isaiah 61:11-62:1).
Fireflies and wildflowers--two great witnesses bearing the invitation to all of us for apostolic heritage to become apostolic destiny. How our land needs this dedication as our days of decision draw near!
In this time, God is calling forth Refounding Fathers--and mothers--to recover the sacred legacies forged by our forefathers and build upon our apostolic foundations. In Washington DC a few months ago, the Lord spoke about a season of recovery He is releasing to the body of Christ. Over the past two months the Lord has sent us from New England to Washington State to announce this new season so that we may be positioned together for advancement. There was a moment in Elisha's day that was remarkably similar to the housing crunch now in our nation. People who had dedicated themselves to building the Kingdom of God suddenly found themselves mired in debt, with no ability to repay. And the building project they were working on was at a standstill, with now means of completion.
Recovering the Axe-Head
Second Kings 6 recounts the story. There were too many interns in Elisha's school of the prophets. The building was too confining. So, with Elisha's permission, they set out to build for the future. As they were chopping down trees, the axe they were using suddenly broke. And the axe-head fell into the Jordan River.
How many of us set out to build for the future, only to be stopped by roadblocks beyond our control? Honestly, the streets of our spiritual landscapes are full of orphaned building projects, begging for walls and a well-built roof. God wants to bring completion to the works He has called His body to establish! And He wants to recover the orphans, the lost boys and girls now walking these streets in search of their true Dad. Be a Refounding Father!
The prophets in Elisha's day borrowed the axe-head to build for the future. When the axe-head fell into the waters, what they had borrowed to build for the future became submerged. So not only was their building program incomplete, but they were suddenly faced with debt they could not repay. Sounds like the predicament of many believers in this hour!
The good news is that God has a plan to recover your axe--head. He as a plan of recovery so that you can again be empowered to build for the future. The Lord wants to give you the resources to complete the dream He forged in your heart before you were born!
And some are being called at this time to recover the axe-heads of previous generations so as to bring their legacies to completion at this time. You can feel the ground trembling. Is not the very earth groaning for the manifestation of the Sons of God to be released? There is a destiny for every sacred seed that has fallen into the ground and died. There is a recovery of destiny and heritage and a harvest to be gathered from this ground.
Will you be the one to recover God's destiny? Will you dedicate your life as a Refounding Father-- and recover the apostolic foundations of our forefathers? There is a great company of witnesses with you. Nash and Finney, Edwards and Brainerd, Spurgeon and Lake, Lockett and Lincoln and King are all cheering you on. Stand in the gap and forge a pathway of recovery in our nation and in the hearts of this emerging generation. Recover the axe-head and lets build for the future!
Releasing Covenant Wealth
The axe-head represents power to gain wealth to establish the covenant God swore to our forefathers. In this window of time, heaven is poised to release power to gain wealth to bring to completion His covenant purposes. The wealth of heaven and of earth will flow like a river to those who align themselves correctly.
Your biggest qualification to receive this wealth is your personal covenant with Him. Remember how David swore to give no rest to his eyes, or slumber to his eyelids, until the Ark of the Covenant was restored to the land and worshipers were restored to their place in the Tabernacle. God is recovering the axe-head of covenant wealth to bring to completion the covenantal legacy forged by our forefathers in Christ.
To this end, please remember that the land and its government was covenanted to the Lord on 11-11, 1620 by the Pilgrims "for the glory of God and the advancement of the Christian faith." Let these covenant purposes be established in this hour, with a fathering movement sweeping the land to awaken our generation to the Lord Jesus Christ! AMEN!
