Hi subscriber,

The Power of the Wind of the Spirit!

by Carl Diener

So being alone in the woods sometimes produces a thoughtful philosophical way of thinking. It was on one such occasion I heard the still small voice of the Lord in my thoughts. I was watching a leaf fall slowly from a tree, and as it began, its spiraling descent to the ground, I thought, well, isn't that a comment on life and death and the way things are.

Here this leaf was once green giving life and energy to the tree, and now it has fulfilled its calling for the summer. It has come to the end of its usefulness. Now it begins the slow descent that all leaves must follow.

Just then, a brisk breeze picked up and caught that leaf just before it hit the ground. Higher and higher the leaf soared even above the height of the tree from which it once came.

Soon it was gone. The breeze had taken it out of sight.

You know, I have to admit, only God knows the final destiny and resting place of that leaf.

I felt the Lord speak at that moment, "Never never underestimate the power of the wind of the Spirit to come and change things suddenly."
"Yet you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judaea and Samaria and to the remotest parts of the earth."
Acts 1:8 (Weymouth New Testament)
