Christmas Memories In Your Heart

I think that Christmas is such a blessing to humanity. So many other parts of the world that don’t celebrate Christmas or give attention to this season seem to be ravaged in poverty and bound by darkness to the greatest extent. I believe that Christmas is like resetting the social clock each year. Every year we are reminded to get our eyes off ourselves and back onto others. I perceive that Christmas tends to make more excellent people out of us.

In the Christmas story:

Let me first introduce you to a truth about the name of the mother of our Savior. Her name was not Mary. That is something that the Roman Catholic Church is responsible for and robs us of the revelation of her God-given name: Miriam. Miriam and Joseph had a baby. Not just any baby, though. This Baby was the Savior of the world!

Miriam was an unknown lover of God. The Holy Spirit overshadowed her, and she conceived the Son of God! But why? The answer to that "why?" is probably much more significant than anyone could know, but we can understand some of the reasons and purposes of God's Big Plan.

Remember that Genesis chapter six tells of a time when angels rebelled against God and began causing the "daughters of men" to conceive children that were later to be "men of renown." This rebellion of disobedient angels caused uncountable troubles for humanity and the environment upon the earth. The "giants" were genetic code issues from the "sons of gods," and David was thrust into his glorious victories by overcoming the Nephilim giant, Goliath of Gath. The good shepherd destroyed that giant, and the shepherd eventually became the Great King of Israel.

What does this have to do with Miriam's Baby? This Child was conceived in a manner whereby God Himself strategically destroyed the "sons of gods" abilities to overcome the earth and make slaves of the children of Adam. Yehovah (YHWH) broke through the veil that separates the natural and the heavens, or spiritual realms, and Miriam was with Child by the Holy Spirit and not man. This Child of Miriam's is the Son of God and not the issue of some rebellious angel. God the Father has triumphed over the will of Satan and the will of evil, rebellious angels who have desired to enslave the people whom God loves.

Numerous miracles took place concerning this Child – this Son of God – Who came into the world. Miriam watched each miracle intently. Each event was a mystery within itself. But then came the night that every mother and father call a miraculous night: The night of the birth of the Baby!

A righteous angel with a loving, obedient relationship with God the Father appeared to shepherds in the field. They heard the voice of heaven and the songs of praise! They were told where they might find the Son of God. He was just born and is lying in a manger in Bethlehem. What a day!

"And they came with haste and found Miriam and Joseph and the Babe lying in a manger. Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child. And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds. But Miriam kept all these things and pondered them in her heart. Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told them." -Luke 2:16 - 20

Miriam was told of the great blessing that she was going to receive. She was also told of the blessing that this particular Baby would become. She heard the promises, and she did not forget them or stick them on the shelf to get dusty. "But Miriam kept all these things and pondered them in her heart."

The Greek word behind the English translation for the "things" that Miriam kept and pondered is rhema. Rhema means "the acute spoken word." These spoken words came from God via all these miracle sources, and Miriam kept them and pondered them all!

Imagine Miriam’s Christmas memories. We all need Christmas memories to keep in our hearts.
It is a grave mistake for us to hear and then forget the promises that we are given. Instead, they ought to be kept by us and pondered in our hearts before, during, and even after they have come to be.

She remembers, and thus we too should remember, that "He will save His people from sin!" The will of Satan is overcome by the profound and perfect WILL of God the Father because He broke through, and the Son of God was given to destroy the works of sin and the will of Satan.

Now, I have come to believe that God is less offended by our sin than we think. Yet, the Lord is more saddened by the fruit that our sin produces, in that, its direction of travel takes us away from our destiny, which is God's great hope in us. But, when He came forth from the Father, the Son of God broke the powers of sin, sickness, poverty, and even death itself in just 33 years of destiny upon the earth.

"And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; You shall find the Baby wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God saying,
'Glory to God in the highest, and on earth shalom, good will toward men!'"

Shalom on earth and the very good WILL of God toward you! Amen.
